City parks staff told the Park and Tree Board that contractor work to replace playground surfacing at Mac Porter and Lions Park is expected to begin the week of Sept. 3, with crews at Lions Park first and then moving material to Jesse James Park where usable mulch will be recycled.
Ryan said PlayCraft, the equipment manufacturer, supplied new support brackets ("saddles") at no charge to reduce an entanglement hazard in tube elements and that the board is seeking a certified playground installer or PlayCraft to perform the installation for safety. Chair noted the project will add concrete edging to improve accessibility and that some material will be taken to the compost site when unsuitable for reuse.
