Board told web-climber needs replacement; staff seeks roughly $52,000 in capital funding

Parks staff told the board Nov. 19 that a double web climber installed in 2007 has reached the end of its usable life and recommended replacing the webbing. Staff said they have included the item in the capital outlay portion of the preliminary budget and plan to present the request to the mayor and city staff at a Nov. 25 budget meeting.
A parks staff member said, "We've got a preliminary, estimate from them, $45,000 for that, and we figured about a $5,000 install, 5 to $7,000 install. So that's a $52,000 budget request just right there." Board members discussed the original installation's deep concrete footings and clarified staff intends to replace the webbing and leveling components, not the posts or concrete foundations. Staff said they will press to secure the funding during the upcoming budget review.
The board did not take a formal vote on the capital request at this meeting; staff will present the item at the Nov. 25 budget meeting with the mayor and city staff.
