Council selects Mayor Pro-Tem, fills Planning Commission seats and adopts budget calendar

At the Jan. 13 meeting Mayor Brian Ramey nominated Councilmember Jimmy Powell to serve as Mayor Pro-Tem; the nomination was approved unanimously after a motion from Mayor Ramey and a second from Adam Dunn. Minutes record that Powell did not participate in the vote.
Council also appointed Tanner Sluder and Kathy Davis to fill two Planning Commission vacancies and unanimously approved the proposed FY2026/2027 Budget Calendar, which sets departmental deadlines and public hearing dates, including a public hearing and first reading on May 12 and a second reading, public hearing and adoption on June 9, 2026. The meeting schedule for 2026 was also adopted with monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month.
