The Avon Town Council on July 31 set a Sept. 4 public hearing to consider accepting four parcels along Jackson and Richard streets for highway purposes, a step officials said will support road improvements tied to nearby development.
Mr. Weber and other council members described recent clearing on nearby parcels and noted drainage concerns, wetlands, and an intermittent watercourse that flows toward Nod Brook. The Town Manager will ask the Town Engineer to brief council at the September meeting, including mitigation for runoff and applicable wetlands or zoning controls. The motion to set the hearing passed unanimously.
