Parks staff to request $45,000 for new web climber after inspections at Jesse James Park

Parks staff told the board that two new slide entries for Jesse James Park will be installed by the original installer this week, and that the existing web climber is near end of life. Staff said funds for immediate slide repairs have been allocated from capital outlay and that they will request $45,000 in the upcoming fiscal-year capital budget for a replacement double web climber.
"It's it's a double web climber. People love that thing. It's probably the, the biggest hit out there," Parks staff said when explaining the planned $45,000 capital request. The board was told the slide cracks are "purely cosmetic" now but staff wants to replace the climber to ensure safety and long-term playability.
The budget submission timeline was also discussed elsewhere on the agenda: staff said departmental budget materials for FY26 (04/01/2025–03/31/2026) should be submitted to Sheila by about Nov. 7 so capital items can be included.
