Committee member urges reengagement with Char Griller owner to coordinate demolition and access

A Committee member raised the Char Griller site during new/old business, saying it may be time to reengage the property owner to revisit agreements and to explore demolition planning and access. “It may be time to start reengaging with the property owner of the Char Griller property to start looking at the agreements and the looking at at demolition of of that property,” the Committee member said.
The Committee member explained that utilities and systems—gas service, fire suppression and likely electrical—are interconnected between the Char Griller building and the adjacent property because the buildings were originally owned and operated by the same entities. The member recommended arranging for Matt Dunigan’s staff to inspect the building so engineers can understand structural and utility interconnections before the DDA proceeds with demolition planning.
The Chair said he will reach out to Matt to follow up on prior work and next steps for securing access. No formal vote was taken; members framed the next step as staff follow-up and reengagement with the property owner.
