Airport entrance road project delayed to summer 2027 to avoid airline startup disruptions

Airport Director Steven Gleason told the board the airport entrance road improvement project will be postponed until the summer of 2027 to avoid construction during SkyWest's startup and the airport's busiest season. Gleason said continuing design and engineering work during 2026 will allow bidding in January and construction in July or August 2027 when weather is favorable for asphalt work.
The board supported the delay to reduce operational disruptions to the new airline service, rental car operations and fuel deliveries. Judd Hill later outlined a phased construction plan for entrance-road work that would maintain airport access, temporary parking restrictions and alternate pedestrian and vehicle routes during construction.
