Avon proposes requiring dry sewers alongside septic in new subdivisions

Planning Coordinator Pam Fechter told Council that increased septic-system subdivision activity prompted a proposed change to the Planning and Zoning Code. The amendment would require developers to install dry sewer lines alongside septic on each lot to facilitate quicker and less costly future connections to public sewer when it becomes available.
Council member Michelle Patton praised the approach as forward-looking and said it would reduce future homeowner costs when public sewers are extended. The ordinance will have its first reading on March 9, and a public hearing is scheduled for April 13, 2026 at 7:25 p.m.
