City targets June 8 pool opening; recreation director says more lifeguards needed

Parks & Recreation Director Don Patterson told council that the pool was being filled on May 26 and staff are aiming for a June 8 opening date. He said six lifeguards are on staff and the department needs at least 10 to operate full hours; Patterson also noted work remains in changing and concession areas and that initial food offerings will be pre-packaged until hood and equipment installations are finished.
“ Our target date is June 8th. I'm still working on lifeguards. I have six right now. I need at least 10 for it to run fully functional for all hours,” Patterson said. Council members discussed transportation coordination with SVRTA for pool routes and requested follow-up on lifeguard recruitment and concession readiness.
