Council sunshines ordinance to ratify three-year AFSCME contract; executive session on final vote planned

Mr. McManamon, speaking for the Finance Committee, announced the committee sun shined an ordinance to ratify a three-year wage-and-benefit contract between the City of Steubenville and Local 2015 of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), and that the ordinance will be presented as an emergency measure.
Law Director Costa Mastros said members will receive a redline version and an executive summary by email ahead of an executive session planned before final action; Mastros said the city’s labor attorney would be available by phone for council questions and that council could table final passage if members wanted more time. No final vote occurred on May 26; Mastros and McManamon outlined the timeline and options for next sessions.
