Law director schedules public meeting June 2 on mineral lease rebids; paper-alley review to follow

Law Director Costa Mastros told council the city rebid its minerals and received two bidders; he said a public meeting is required and will be held June 2 at 5:00 p.m. at the Steubenville High School auditorium, with statutory notice to owners within 500 feet and a bid-opening scheduled for June 16.
"The bids were closed. We have two bidders. The next step is the public meeting... It will be on June 2nd, at 5pm at the Steubenville High School auditorium, and then two weeks later, on the 16th of June 16, we'll open the bids," Mastros said. He also told council he will bring examples and materials on 'paper alleys' to a future meeting for clearer discussion with Mr. Dolak and public-works staff.
Mastros emphasized the notice requirement under state statute and said any member of the public may attend the June 2 meeting. No formal vote on leases occurred at the May 5 session; council will hear the public meeting and the bid opening on the schedule Mastros described.
