Council adopts resolution for state honor and holds first/second readings on resurfacing and rezonings

Council voted to adopt Resolution No. 2026-31 honoring the Steubenville City Schools boys basketball team for an outstanding season and recognizing Jeff Lombardo and Michael Haney with state coaching honors.
Mrs. Haley read Resolution No. 2026-31 in full following a motion by Mr. Gorman and a second by Mr. Albaugh; the adoption was approved by roll call with all ayes. Council also reported a second reading of Ordinance No. 2026-29, which would amend the city’s 2026–2029 hot-mix resurfacing four-year street plan, and held first readings on two rezoning ordinances from the planning committee (a rezoning request for 609 N. 7th Street owned by VM 609 LLC, and a rezoning package affecting eleven McCook Blvd parcels owned by Casey & Lon Jacqueline Staton). Those ordinances were informational at this meeting and will return for further committee review and votes.
