Avon resident raises sewer-access and safety concerns on Colorado Avenue; council notes ODOT jurisdiction

St. Clair said the household needs to connect to sanitary sewer service but that a neighbor had informed them connection would require tunneling under a ditch, which would be costly. She said her mother will turn 100 next month and related that a previous car accident had sent a vehicle into their house and into the basement.
St. Clair also said an ODOT representative had proposed redirecting some lane arrows near Crusher Stadium (Recreation Lane) to provide safer access to her property; she cited traffic volume of about 44,000 cars daily. Mayor Bryan Jensen and City Engineer Ryan Cummins responded that the City does not control ODOT roads or speed limits and that any study or design change would require ODOT approval; Cummins recommended Ms. St. Clair engage a private engineer to prepare plans and said simultaneous nearby development could create a more economical opportunity to extend sewer service.
