Davis Court bridge to close Aug. 18 for structural repairs, staff says

The presentation explained that the work includes replacing structural steel, re-anchoring wing walls, galvanizing steel and installing new decking. Staff said they had done a special load rating with structural engineers and that after the repairs most emergency apparatus will be able to cross except the ladder truck and tanker in some configurations; they described a contingency plan using a tanker to refill at a nearby pond if necessary.
The commission noted the closure timeframe and possible traffic impacts and staff said they would post messages in advance and coordinate with emergency services during the closure.
