The chair of the Leesburg Residential Traffic Commission heard a public comment from Randy about the Lord Of Park Road project, asking when the commission would act on traffic-calming measures and whether painted lines or flashing stop signs might be installed.
Randy said the construction crews “do every evening clean up that site,” but that neighbors remain concerned about traffic and safety once the road is in regular use. He asked the commission to schedule the striping/line decision with advance notice so residents could attend and be heard. The chair said the commission has deferred action until construction is complete and staff and the town have had a chance to review the finished road, and estimated bringing the item back for discussion in October or November.
Commissioners emphasized the legal and jurisdictional limits: until the developer turns the roadway over and the town accepts it, town staff cannot install permanent signage or make changes to the public right-of-way. The chair said the commission will request a staff report and may ask the police department to monitor traffic at agreed times so the commission has data to inform a future decision.
The exchange included requests for interim options: residents suggested HOA-placed temporary speed signs and targeted police patrols as near-term measures. The commission said it would coordinate with the town engineer and the town attorney to clarify what can be done before turnover and directed staff to follow up with residents by email.
