Kingsford reports watermain replacements, well rehabilitation and spring rubbish pickup

City Manager Michael Stelmaszek told the council that well #5 rehabilitation and multiple watermain and access line replacement projects are underway, with DWSRF project #2 and CWSRF project #3 expected to be complete this fall. City Manager Michael Stelmaszek updated the Kingsford City Council on public works activity and upcoming administrative dates during the May 4 meeting.
Stelmaszek said "The Spring Rubbish Pickup has started." He reported that work is underway on well #5 rehabilitation, a lift station abandonment on Bancroft Street, and replacement of sewer main, watermain, and access lines in the Ford Addition. Additional work on East Breen Avenue (from Carpenter Avenue to the city limits) and one block of Woodbine will replace aging watermain and access lines; once these projects are done this fall, DWSRF project #2 and CWSRF project #3 will be complete.
He also announced a Budget Workshop scheduled for May 13, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers and said staff is preparing the next semi-annual city newsletter for distribution with tax statements and on city channels. Council received and placed the manager's report on file by unanimous motion.
