The Kingsford City Council voted unanimously May 13 to schedule a public hearing on June 1, 2026, for the city’s proposed fiscal year 2026–2027 budget. Angela Olson moved to hold the hearing, Michael Flaminio seconded, and the motion carried, according to the meeting minutes.
The minutes record: "It was moved by Olson, seconded by Flaminio to hold a budget hearing during the June 1st, 2026, City Council Meeting. Motion Carried Unanimously." City Manager Michael Stelmaszek had earlier presented the proposed budget documents, which the record shows include General Fund revenues, prior-year expenditures and planned expenditures for FY 2026–2027, plus Local & Major Street Funds and the sewer and water funds. Council members pressed staff to investigate cost reductions in other areas rather than raising rates on residents. The council is scheduled to consider public input and any amendments at the June 1 hearing.
