Residents press council on blight, farm animals and shipping-container ordinance

Dale Tchokreff approached the council to describe a grievance regarding city property adjacent to his parcel and an ordinance governing shipping containers that he said had been passed years earlier. Mayor Joe Groeneveld told Tchokreff that "the city would investigate the issue." Later, Nicole Dorman, joined by neighbors Tammy and Doug McDaniel, asked what is being done to address blight and farm animal nuisances near her property. City Manager Michael Stelmaszek described the current complaint process and said he would follow up; the minutes note Ms. McDaniel had submitted a complaint on the city's website.
Council did not take immediate enforcement action during the meeting but Mayor Groeneveld said he expects more enforcement attention with the arrival of spring. Residents were advised that staff would investigate and follow up with the parties who raised the complaints.
