Tim Gussert told the committee that youth baseball and softball programs involve about 450 children and that organizers are struggling to find enough field time because the high school uses the majority of available slots. "They have around 450 kids involved," Gussert said during the May 11 meeting.
Gussert asked whether the school district has a formal agreement that grants the high school priority use; Secretary Michael Stelmaszek replied there is no agreement in place. The committee did not reach a binding resolution during this meeting; members asked DPW Superintendent Jeff DeMuri to collect participation numbers from different groups to better understand scheduling needs.
