Kingsford committee forms subcommittee to study three alternatives for 7-acre Lodal Park parcel

At its May 11 meeting, the Kingsford Citizens Advisory/Parks Decorations Committee agreed to form a subcommittee to identify three alternative uses for the seven-acre parcel the city recently acquired at Lodal Park. Secretary Michael Stelmaszek proposed the effort and the committee scheduled the subcommittee to meet Monday, June 1, at 10:00 a.m. in the conference room.

Stelmaszek said the subcommittee should present the best three alternatives with pros and cons for each so the council and staff can evaluate redevelopment options. Committee members asked DPW Superintendent Jeff DeMuri to contact youth leagues and other stakeholders to provide participation numbers to inform land-use decisions; Stelmaszek noted the city has already had trees removed and completed topographic imaging to help estimate leveling work. No formal vote count beyond the recorded motion was required; the committee set the meeting date and tasked staff with collecting league data.
