Finance Committee authorizes First Selectman to accept $24,725 early-voting grant

The Trumbull Finance Committee on July 27 voted to authorize First Selectman Vicki A. Tesoro to sign the grant application and all subsequent documents to accept early-voting funds from the Connecticut Secretary of the State under Public Act 25-168.
Registrar of Voters Jean Rabinow told the committee that Trumbull’s early-voting costs run about $40,000 per election. Rabinow said the town prints and mails bilingual postcards to every household subject to a given election (English and Spanish), in addition to salaries, overtime and poll-worker meals; the state allocation for Trumbull is $24,725.09, which Rabinow described as "about right" for the items it covers.
The minutes include the full resolution language specifying allowable uses: pay for staff with access to the Centralized Voter Registration System (CVRS), additional pay for early-voting training and tabulator training, police escorts to transport ballots and supplies, creation and printing of dual-language voter postcards including translator fees, and updating the town’s web pages and FAQs in both English and Spanish. The committee voted unanimously to pass the authorization; the grant requires expenditure reports within 30 days of full expenditure and no later than June 30, 2027.
