The proposed ordinance sets thresholds for permit applications (street trees DBH ≥2.5", non-street trees DBH ≥6"), establishes replacement ratios tied to diameter categories, requires a $25 application fee, and allows replacement alternatives including a $100 per-tree fee when planting on-site is infeasible.
Resident Roe Maio asked how the new ordinance would affect the responsibilities of the existing Shade Tree Commission and whether conflicting determinations (Zoning approving removal vs. the Shade Tree Commission opposing) would be resolved. Mayor Wronko and Borough Clerk Ellen Horak acknowledged the coordination question, and Attorney Angelo Bolcato advised that the Borough would need to define a process—he suggested Zoning could condition permits on prior Commission approval. The council unanimously voted to table the ordinance to resolve conflicts and clarify procedures.
