The board discussed continuing building improvements and exploring new uses for the museum space, with an eye toward security for items on display. Museum Board member Sage said he would like to seek new uses and opportunities for the building while keeping security safeguards in place. Kim Wheeler noted the Historical Society has the new patio reserved for the 250th Anniversary Celebration and Back to the Bricks.
Sage raised the AJ Phillips will as a potential constraint on using the building for groups not connected to the library; Wheeler said she would bring the will so the board could review it. Jason Payne asked whether museum items are insurable; Wheeler said prior attempts failed when "the insurance company came, they said they could not price what things would be worth," and Payne requested that Wheeler provide that finding in writing so the city has documentation.
