FirstEnergy says underground cable replacements finished; more Ward 3 work planned

President of council Whitey Clark opened the meeting and asked Service Director Mary Kate Costello to introduce the evening's utility guest. Mary Kate introduced FirstEnergy representatives; Brian Mayer, who identified himself as a local engagement contact, described recent company work in Bay Village.
Brian Mayer said the company installed wildlife protection devices and completed underground cable replacements in February, and listed remaining streets that are in design: "Brook Lane, Roberta Drive, Kimberly Drive and Perry Drive," noting those projects are in the utility's budget for the year. "My coverage area is from Oak Harbor all the way to Tie Over County," Mayer said when asked to describe his local footprint and responsibilities.
Mayer also told council the company has a multi-year reinforcement program for Ohio infrastructure; at the meeting he described it as a $3,000,000,000 investment across the state over the next three years to strengthen poles, wires and other equipment. He said the city will receive resident notices — an IVR (automated call) and mailed or emailed announcements — for projects with upcoming schedules and encouraged residents to update contact information so they receive alerts.
Mary Kate Costello and council members asked FirstEnergy to confirm whether work identified in fall inspections is complete in specific neighborhoods near Bassett Road; Mayer said he would verify outstanding items and get back to the service director so the city can post status information for affected residents. The council thanked the company for the progress and asked staff to share updates on the city website when available.
The council did not take a formal vote on utility work during this meeting; FirstEnergy representatives responded to questions about timing, upcoming notifications, and the company's contact process for outage reporting.
