Superintendent: Stadium bleachers removed; transformer issues with Consumers Energy being resolved

Superintendent provided a construction update: the bleachers at Earl Brotherson Stadium have been removed and a salvageable section will be repurposed at the waterfront field. The superintendent said the district is encountering electrical/transformer alignment issues with Consumers Energy on one bid pack; engineers and contractors are coordinating with the utility and the work is expected to be covered by the district’s current contingency, so demolition and new-bleacher work are not delayed. He also reported that a previously approved bus has finally arrived at a cost of $145,000 after an eight-month wait.
Board members asked for updates on the remaining bid packs and the timeline; staff said bid pack 2 (gym lights and commons) will begin next week and architects and construction managers continue design development for the elementary (bid pack 4). No board action was required.
