First Energy interim rep says Bay Village undergrounding work ongoing; residents to get notices

President of Council Dwight A. Clark opened the March 2 committee session and the Administration introduced Brian Baer, First Energy's interim Local Engagement Specialist covering Oak Harbor through Cuyahoga County. Mr. Baer said he is serving in an interim role while First Energy fills the permanent Local Engagement Specialist position and noted that some underground conversion work in Ward 3 included installation of animal guards on overhead lines.
Mr. Baer reported that underground cable installations were completed in February and listed projects in progress or budgeted this year on Brooke Lane, Roberta Drive, Kimerly Drive and Perry Drive. He said engineering is in design phase and that First Energy will send a phone notice to residents affected by the work; he also said the company has a $3 billion investment planned to strengthen poles, wires and equipment across Ohio over the next three years. Councilmembers asked whether notices would specify timing; Mr. Baer said residents should update contact information with First Energy and that he would share notices with the Mayor and homeowners as they become available.
