Town wins EPA Brownfields grant for Graveyard Auto site; public comments open through July 30

Town Manager Beatty told the council the town received a U.S. EPA Brownfields grant that will be used to remediate the former Graveyard Auto site at 1320 Emery Crossing Road, a roughly nine‑acre property owned by the Clarksville Redevelopment Commission. Beatty said the EPA began work in May 2019 and earlier removed drums and contaminated soils; the ABCA that evaluates cleanup alternatives is available on the project's page of the town website and written comments on the ABCA are being accepted through July 30.
Beatty said the redevelopment commission will post a bid packet in late July and anticipates awarding a remediation contract in late August with work expected to finish by the end of 2025. "Beginning in May 2019, the US EPA began a cleanup of hazardous waste at the site," Beatty said. He gave the project timeline and encouraged interested parties to submit comments to the clerk treasurer's office or via the town email address provided.
