Councilwoman Greenfield introduced Ordinance 26-14, the annual NOPEC grant-acceptance ordinance, and asked staff to summarize the award and intended uses. A staff member addressed the committee and said the city receives notification of the award each year and brings an ordinance to accept the funds; this year the money will go to usual recreation/outreach accounts and potentially to the City Hall campus project.
During questions, a council member asked about the funding deadline; staff said the funds must be spent by November of the award year. With no further discussion, the council moved to put Ordinance 26-14 on second read with subsequent third reading; the motion passed by roll call.
Quote from staff: "This is just our annual NOPEC ordinance that we do. We get notified of the amount that we get awarded from them," staff said when describing the grant process.
