The Stanhope Borough Council adopted Ordinance 2026-11 on June 9 to amend Chapter 37 of the Borough Code and increase the administrative surcharge charged when Borough police officers are assigned to outside details. The ordinance replaces Section 37-13.C and prescribes that a surcharge of 25% "shall also be assessed for administrative costs incurred by the Borough."
Councilman Simpson moved the ordinance and the council adopted it by roll call; the ordinance takes effect immediately upon adoption, per the text. Council members said the change responds to rising fuel and administrative costs and seeks to align Stanhope's rates with neighboring municipalities.
