At the work session the borough engineer updated the council on two Local Aid resurfacing projects and traffic-calming options.
Keller said Portofino will complete crosswalk treatments on Main Street using an NJDOT-approved cementitious material to replace thermoplastic that had been pulled up. He also outlined the New Street Local Aid proposal and said staff will evaluate whether the current two speed humps need rotation or whether additional humps are required; he told council the speed-hump work cannot be done through the co-op because it is not a contracted item but that he believes the cost will fall below the bid threshold.
Councilman Smith asked whether a three-way stop could be placed at New Street and Plane Street if additional speed humps were not recommended; Keller agreed to investigate and also to review Plainview Street at the request of Councilman Wachterhauser. Keller said he will schedule the Main Street crosswalk work once the contractor and material substitution are finalized.
