City manager: brewery developer cleared a hurdle; demolition possible by end of July

City Manager Michael Johnson reported the Historical Landmarks Commission approved a developer’s proposal that would take the Rooney’s building and two adjacent structures for a brewery production and distribution facility at Fourth and Market. Johnson said the next step is approval from the Ohio Historic Commission and that, "Assuming that happens, they can start knocking down buildings as early as the end of July."
Mayor Petrella added that the developer is not relying on city or grant funds: "They have cold, hard cash on hand, ready to do this project." Council did not take a formal vote at the meeting; the item was presented as an informational update about potential downtown redevelopment.
