Council approves right-of-way purchases for Country Air Estates Phase 2 street project

The Rowlett City Council unanimously approved a resolution authorizing negotiated purchase of several small corner-clip right-of-way parcels needed for the Country Air Estates Phase 2 reconstruction project.
Senior engineer Quang Nguyen presented the project scope: full pavement replacement on Salzburg Drive and Swiss Way, new five-foot sidewalks on both sides, water and sewer line upgrades and drainage improvements. Staff requested acquisition of six corner clips at specified addresses and asked the council to authorize the mayor to sign instruments and the city manager to issue purchase orders; the total amount for the corner-clip acquisitions was $1,112.25.
Nguyen said staff expects to advertise and bid the construction package and anticipated construction could begin roughly two months after acquisition and bid award (mid or late April, subject to contractor selection). The project is funded from 2021 and 2024 voter-approved bonds for streets and drainage.
