Rowlett honors Fire Chief Tim Gauthier on retirement after 27 years

Mayor Jeff Winget presented a proclamation recognizing Fire Chief Tim Gauthier’s retirement and thanked him for 27 years of service to the Rowlett Fire Department. The proclamation, read aloud by the mayor, noted Gauthier’s start with the department on 07/20/1998, his promotion to chief on 06/21/2024, and his service on regional best-practice committees that helped the department earn recognition in 2015. State Representative Retta Bowers presented a Texas flag that had been flown over the state capitol in Austin in honor of Gauthier’s service.
Chief Gauthier, joined onstage by family and department members, thanked the mayor, city manager and his staff and reflected on his time in Rowlett. “It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later,” he said, describing the department and community as family. Council members and staff posed for photographs and the council recorded the recognition as part of the evening’s ceremonial items.
