Rebecca Fanning briefed council on a Charleston County transportation-tax 'Greenbelt' grant opportunity of roughly $27,000 that would fund extension or replacement (not repairs) of a boardwalk. The application deadline is at the end of July. Council voted unanimously to proceed with an application and directed staff to prioritize Station 32 so Station 22 remains available for additional review and possible larger work.
Fanning said the grant supports replacement or extension projects and that another opportunity will be available in winter if council chooses to defer. The Public Facilities Committee will continue to examine Station 22's scope and potential costs at its June 18 meeting before any town funds would be committed.
