Rumford public-works report: paving, sidewalk work and a repaired forced main on Route 2
Summary
Department Head Roberts told the board that sidewalks on Hancock Street were excavated with curbing scheduled the week of Sept. 16, Lincoln Ave, Penobscot and Somerset streets were paved, driveway apron work is underway, a guardrail on Canal Street needs mowing once equipment is available, and a forced main break on Route 2 was repaired.
Department Head Roberts updated the select board on street and utility maintenance at the Sept. 5 meeting.
Roberts reported that sidewalk work on Hancock Street has been dug out and curbing is expected the week of Sept. 16. He said Lincoln Avenue, Penobscot Street and Somerset Street have been paved and crews are completing driveway aprons. Roberts also reported that a guardrail on Canal Street was removed and that mowing will occur once the town's mower is returned. He noted a forced main break on Route 2 was repaired and that work continues on pumping stations and crosswalks; he credited Community Energy for repairing garage heating systems.
The board received the report as part of department updates; no separate vote or funding action was recorded in the minutes.
