Planning staff told the Caribou Planning Board they will revive a multi-year rewrite of Chapter 13 that would add mixed-use and riverfront development districts and reorganize the land-use table. Staff said they compiled prior drafts and suggested preparing a current redline and a clean version of the proposed ordinance for a workshop so the board can decide how to proceed.
Board members noted the rewrite work began several years ago and was coordinated with the comprehensive plan and riverfront committee. Penny Thompson, the city manager, said she is finalizing the fiscal-capacity section of the comprehensive plan and that staff will coordinate updates. The board asked staff to prepare updated materials and to identify a workshop date so members can review redlined changes and the sections that were previously proposed for revision.
