Staff backs zoning map cleanup tied to Ashton Woods–Pruitt land swap

City planning staff asked the council to approve a zoning map amendment to implement a 2021 land swap between the City of Chamblee and Ashton Woods Healthcare. Matt Adams said the rezoning is administrative and necessary to plat the parcels transferred in the swap and that no new development beyond existing permits is anticipated.
"This zoning change would only affect those properties which were transferred between Ashton Woods Healthcare and the city of Chamblee in 2021," Adams said, adding a staff condition that the zoning amendment not become effective until the subject properties are platted and recorded.
Baxter Russell, speaking on behalf of Pruitt Health, told the council he supports the application and called the change a "natural and logical extension" of the prior land swap and related site work, including a recent parking lot extension. The council did not take final action at the work session; staff recommended additional mapping and timing conditions before finalizing the amendment.
