Neighbors tell planning board they were surprised by clearing, raise flood and parking concerns

During the public hearing on July 28, two neighbors spoke in person and online to say they broadly support the temple’s presence but wanted clarity about future parking locations, creek-side flooding risks, and the effect of tree removal on privacy.
In-person commenter Krista Castellino said she had not received mailed notice and discovered trees had been bulldozed behind her property: “I was kind of surprised when they started bulldozing the trees behind us, and now I can see from my property straight to Cherryville.” Online commenter Wendy Mortner, whose lot borders the McSorley property, said she favors the temple but asked how access and parking on the narrow McSorley Lane would be managed and how future redevelopment would affect drainage and privacy.
Staff replied that no site plan was required for the annexation itself and that specific building footprints, parking and tree removal would be addressed through future land-use review if and when development applications are filed. The board acknowledged residents’ concerns but moved ahead with deliberation and its final recommendation to council.
