Board defers rezoning, approves conditional-use permit and tables VDOT plan item

During the public hearings portion of the May 12 meeting, the Board took three distinct actions. First, Planning and Zoning Administrator Stephany Johnson presented an email from the applicant for REZ 25‑01 (Valco Investments, LLC); on a motion by Supervisor Eurika Tyree and second by Supervisor John Newman, the Board decided to defer the rezoning request indefinitely. Second, the Board approved CUP 25‑05 (Dabney Carter) with no citizens signed up to speak; the motion to approve was made by Supervisor Paul Stimpson and seconded by Supervisor Eurika Tyree and carried unanimously. Third, VDOT presented the Secondary Six Year Plan; Norma Patteson requested that Crowder Road be added to the plan, and the Board tabled the item until next month for further discussion on a motion by Supervisor Tyree, seconded by Supervisor Saunders.

The three actions covered distinct agenda items: a rezoning request deferred, a conditional use permit approved, and a transportation-plan request set aside for additional consideration.
