City staff presented a council referral asking the planning commission to consider a location-specific amendment to Chapter 17.16 that would set a maximum primary-residence height of "not to exceed 25 feet" for properties on Williamsburg Lane. Staff said the amendment would apply only to Williamsburg Lane, would require code-language changes and public noticing, and that the community association had provided a study of existing building heights.
During questioning commissioners asked whether accessory structures (barns) would be affected (they would not) and whether any existing properties already exceed the proposed limit; staff replied that "some properties exceed 28, 29 feet in height," citing dormers and ornamental features as contributors to measured height. Commissioner (speaker 4) moved to direct staff to draft the necessary language increasing the height to 25 feet specific to Williamsburg Lane and to prepare public noticing; the motion passed on roll call. Staff said they will bring draft language and noticing options back for a public hearing so the community can comment.
