Haywood County proclaims September 2025 as Preparedness Month, announces events and new warning infrastructure

She said the county expected a total of nine information stations to help residents stay informed if communications fail during a disaster.
The proclamation recited statewide hazard statistics for context and named local recovery from Hurricane Helene as motivating the month of activities. Richmond announced community events tied to Preparedness Month, including a Sept. 27 ceremony at the Haywood County Courthouse and a "day of resilience" event on the 20th at which free emergency kits will be distributed at the county fair.
The board moved, seconded and approved the proclamation by unanimous voice vote.
