Medina County DD superintendent thanks Wadsworth for levy support, highlights mobile changing unit

Stacey Maleckar, Superintendent of the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities, addressed Council to thank Wadsworth for support of the board’s levies. She said the board serves a little over 1,500 county residents across the lifespan and emphasized that the levy is a fixed renewal that does not automatically increase with rising property valuations. Maleckar highlighted MCBDD programs including early intervention (zero to three) and a Universal Changing Unit used at community events; she said last year the program served "a little over 30" events and "over 1,400 people" used the unit.
Maleckar also noted April is Autism Acceptance Month and asked the community to be welcoming and inclusive of people with autism and developmental disabilities. Council members thanked her for the presentation and for MCBDD’s services.
