Historic Preservation Board approves Peekskill Boba blade sign with color-matching condition

The Peekskill Historic Preservation Board approved a carved, double-sided storefront blade sign for Peekskill Boba at tonight’s meeting, with a condition that the mounting bracket be painted to match the building facade. The approval covers only the blade sign as sampled; staff said any permanent window signs would require a separate review.

Esteban, the applicant’s representative, described the proposal as a “double sided, carved sign V groove, painted background with, the peak scale boba carved into it, and it's gonna have a digital printed logo of the boba cafe.” He said the logo would sit on a 0.5-inch raised panel and be digitally printed on top, and that the sign would be affixed to the building on an aluminum bracket using “3 8 inch lag bolts.”

Board members questioned materials and finishes, asking whether the rendering showed the sign in place and whether the storefront windows would retain their existing condition. One member suggested the bracket be painted to match the façade, and the chair proposed that the approval be written to include that exact condition. The chair said the board would approve “the sign as sampled ... with the condition that the bracket change to the color of the building.”

Staff confirmed that the board’s approval applied solely to the blade sign shown and that any additional permanent signage in the windows or sign band would need to return to the board for approval. The board moved, the motion was seconded, and the board proceeded with a verbal roll call and approval as recorded in the meeting.
