Committee asks Law Department to draft sidewalk snow-and-ice ordinance language
Summary
The Public Safety Committee asked the Law Department to draft proposed language to revise ordinance 97.02 on sidewalk snow-and-ice removal; committee will consider the draft at the Committee of the Whole before final action.
Director Dan Chafin placed a short discussion item before the committee regarding proposed revisions to Section 97.02 governing removal of snow and ice from sidewalks. Chafin said staff had provided previously explored legislation and asked whether the Committee had additional input before Law Department drafting.
Council Member Jon Yurchiak recommended moving forward with drafting the ordinance language and advancing it to the Committee of the Whole for broader discussion. Chafin and the committee noted there is time before the next winter season to refine language and solicit broader input.
