Parking citations jumped in March (93 in March 2026 vs. 23 in March 2025), producing a year-to-date total of 208 versus 81 for 2025.
Chafin also reviewed staffing and training: Gabi Harris joined Dispatch as a lateral hire and is in field training; a Civil Service dispatcher test is scheduled for May 12, 2026 (in-person). He said the 33rd police officer began this week and will be sworn in Friday, a police test is scheduled for May 23 (online), and the department completed second-round interviews for previous candidates. Chafin highlighted March trainings including the OSHP leadership program and Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training, and noted five officers graduated the CIT class.
"Yes," Chafin replied when asked whether the scheduled police test would be online; the format was chosen to increase accessibility for candidates working varied shifts. Chafin invited questions on the report and said no single increase "jumped off the page" as an emerging trend, though parking citations and some private-property incidents were higher year-to-date.
