County approves $932,500 bid for Waynesville Library HVAC replacement

"This project... we decided that natural gas boilers would be the best option to replace the outdated electric strip heat... Adding to the bid spec, a new building automation system will provide the control that we need," Siskis said. He and an engineering representative noted plans to coordinate HVAC installation with a roof replacement and to stage work to minimize service interruptions; there may be times the library must close to the public for safety and logistics.
The board approved the contract award and a $1,000,000 budget amendment funded by interest earnings by voice vote. Commissioners and staff emphasized the project is necessary to protect materials and reduce utility costs, and that work will be scheduled to limit disruption to library programs where possible.
