Council considered a request from Mayor Mary Derringer to support AB 2529 with additional language to require claimants to sign claims themselves or have a California-licensed attorney verify them. The mayor said the amended language would require that claims be signed by the claimant or by a licensed attorney and would subject the claims to the sanctions provisions in CCP 128.7.
A motion directing the mayor to send a letter of support with the proposed changes was moved and seconded and passed. Council discussed the mechanics (staff would draft the letter and the mayor would sign) and there was no public comment on the item.
