One council member opposed locking a discretionary $55,000 baseline in the budget, saying, "I'm not interested in spending 55,000 on new chairs for people to watch," and argued individual requests should be brought back when needed. After discussion, a motion to approve the budget with the committee's recommendations (remove the $7,000 and non-SB 707 portion of the $55,000) was made, seconded and passed by voice vote; staff will return with quantified SB 707 costs when available.
