Resident urges Rolling Hills to demand wildfire-readiness details from Cal Water, MWD

During public comment, resident Visco asked the council to press California Water Service (Cal Water) and the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) for detailed wildfire-preparedness information, including geotechnical reports and improved fire-flow data. He told the council the Palos Verdes Reservoir "can store approximately 360,000,000 gallons, and has been out of service since March 2022," and asked the city to demand a report on how those facilities would support fire suppression in Rolling Hills.
Mayor Mary Derringer asked staff to pass along any Cal Water reports already in the city—s possession and said the city would consider writing letters to Cal Water and MWD. Staff also indicated they had been meeting with Cal Water about higher water bills tied to leaks and would pursue credits and additional information for the council and resident request.
