County approves joint funding agreement for guardrail upgrades; MFT cap $300,000

The DeWitt County Board voted unanimously April 24 to approve a Joint Funding Agreement and resolution for guardrail upgrades at roughly 20 locations across the county. Prestegaard moved the measure and Myers seconded; the board recorded an aye vote from all members present.
County Co-Engineer Mark Mathon described the project and said the county’s Motor Fuel Tax contribution will not exceed $300,000 while the federal grant for the project will not exceed $1,000,000. Mathon said if costs are expected to exceed those limits, the county will return to the board with a new resolution for approval.
The board directed staff to proceed with the grant-funded project under those financial caps. Timing and specific site lists were not detailed in the meeting minutes filed with the county.
